actually, within the next few years 600cc bikes will likely reach 300kph stock, it currently requires little work and minor tweakage to get, for example, an R6 to get to 187MPH (300kph). A GSX-R 750 would easily reach that with very minor tweakage also. 1000's are a given.

with little work, a 600 can hit 300 kph no problem

I held it for about two miles. I belive the bike still had more in it providing there was no governer. GSXR 750 is a very capable machine, and more than most people will ever need. How fast do you want to go?

Actually I have a GSX-R 750 K8 with a 2 inch straight thru exaust, no emmisions valve no cat into a yoshimura carbon fibre muffler, and a K and N filter. That's it. It was Dyno tuned at riders choice in Toronto and made 134.6 horsepower at the wheel. I Was down in college station Texas a few weeks ago and I was able to hit the 299km per hour governer with ease, and an 18 pack of beer in my back pack as well.

As the Superbike world series upgraded from 750 to 1000cc, there are no new 750cc being produced by anyone but Suzuki.Daytona just has 675 because they only have 3 valves and therefore less top-power by the same cc.Before that change in rules, there have been plenty of 750cc. Zx-7r for example, or R7, CB 750 Four. Shame they discontinued building them, imo 1000ccs are worse for every rides who doesn't use his bike on the track every once in a while.

For quite a few years, there isn't one anymore. There is a gentleman's agreement amonst the manufacturers to limit the bikes to 300 kph, which of course 600cc or 750cc will most likely never reach, so they just limit the speedo to 299 and therefore the (real) speed to about 260. Can easily be worked around (-> G-Pack), though.

I have the 2006 model. At least that exhaust was shorter and stubbier. Not bad looking. Havent replaced it with an aftermarket one. Don't see the need. Sounds great. More than enough power for the street.
