who cares if they sound the same they ares the best band

how does two songs sounding alike make the whole album revolve around the same structure. Backstreet boys and britney spears were on extremely popular go to some foreign countries and ask about them and they will have no clue about what your talking about but coldplay seems to be popular in many foreign countries with their soothing music

Wow! Have you ever played their music on piano or any other instrument. The piano genius is amazing, combined with the other instrumental elements. No two songs are alike. If there is a formula or structure, it is theirs. It has not been duplicated. It is original. So, you still haven't defined their "structure" or "formula" as being a problem or trend!!

Go Coldplay!

Whatever you would say, I'll still like Coldplay anyway.

I know what "simplicity" means. Hence why I used a quote from a great poet explaining the essence of it. I do not use their popularity for my argument but rather as a reference to show that I'm not the only one who thinks the way I do. You see, they must be doing something good if that many people like them. And yes, there are bands that go unnoticed that make great music, but your definition of "greatness" is biased and hard to understand, making what you say illegitimate.

Check out what the word "simplicity" means and then go on with your fallible arguments. I have serious doubts about someone's musical knowledge if he sizes up a band's greatness to its popularity.there are zillions of bands who make better music than the corporate rock puppets like Coldplay but unfortunatly are not known. Britney Spears has been around for more than a DECADE.Martin is eager to be a popular figure in media just like Britney, with all such posing looks and superficial melancholy
japs209 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Oh boy. You really don't know what you're talking about, do you? "Roboticly calculated sound?" What? I'm gonna have to remember that one. If you can't explain the "formula" or "structure" that you say they use as a blueprint, I have every right to question it. Since when are their instruments not genuine? Since when does music have to be difficult to be respected? After all, "simplicity is the glory of expression." It's clear you have no definite premise in what you mean.

What separates Coldplay from the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears is the word "trend." That's all they were. Coldplay's been around for a decade, and they are still at the pinnacle of their careers. They'll never be a fad. Besides, "real music lovers" would actually appreciate Coldplay's music, as well as any other musician's work, while wannabee-intellects would tarnish their work simply for their feminine reputation (which was given to them by the media.) Where do you come up with this? |
